What’s Happening:
Steady, a platform that allows publishers to earn revenue through paid subscriptions such as memberships, newsletters, podcasts or other content, announced that its media makers have doubled their sales from September 2018 to February 2019.
Digging Deeper:
Steady publishers have now generated two million Euros in recurring revenue through the platform, by selling either monthly or annual memberships. This revenue has also doubled from the one million Euros reported in September 2018. That mark took 20 months to get to, while the revenue doubling from one million to two took only six months.
These publishers include bloggers, online magazines, podcasters, video publishers, musicians, and open source developers. Co-founder Gabriel Yoran said, “We are incredibly proud of the great media makers that have joined the membership revolution, becoming less dependent on ad revenue and connecting more with their fans and supporters.”
Why it Matters:
With digital publishers constantly exploring ways in which to monetize their content and products, the success of a platform like Steady is a step in the right direction.
The Bottom Line:
Steady enables bloggers, online magazines, podcasters, video publishers, musicians, and open source developers to make money through memberships — the best way for readers, listeners and viewers to support the projects they love.
