What’s Happening:
The open publishing platform, Medium, has just launched a new forward-looking tech and science publication called OneZero. The digital journal will be a place to find timely analysis and commentary from a stable of the sharpest thinkers and writers out there, as well as rich, colorful deep dives into the most unexpected corners of our digital universe.
Why it Matters:
Medium is strategically launching an entire portfolio of new brands. These include four new magazines that will be hosted on the Medium platform and covering business, health and general interest, in addition to the science and tech issues featured in OneZero. These magazines will be comprised of original features, columns, and essays by known and unknown writers and experts.
The reasoning behind OneZero is the explosion that Medium has seen in reader interest for these subject matters. The magazine will dig deeper into the topics for an audience who is passionate about, and/or works in, tech and science.
Siobhan O’Connor, VP of Editorial at Medium, says that the platform “has a unique ability to tap expert minds, because they live here on the platform (and if you’re not here, please come), and they can contribute to the conversation of the day, the week, the month, and the year.”
The Bottom Line:
OneZero will be a place to find timely analysis and commentary from a stable of the sharpest thinkers and writers out there, as well as rich, colorful deep dives into the most unexpected corners of our digital universe.
