What led you to start working in digital/media publishing?
I really wasn’t looking to get into digital publishing. I was looking to promote international travel to Americans. We were still in the throes of 9/11 and I thought if I presented personal stories about travel, it would inspire new travel and new friends around the globe. The Internet was just the cheapest way to do it. I see digital publishing as a tool.
What does a typical day look like for you?
This isn’t a typical day. Wake up, read, catch up on email. I selectively respond, read articles, focus on the site -promotion, write an article, a little social media. Really, I have an impossible list of all the things I want to do in a finite amount of time.
What’s your work setup look like?
I have a MacBook Pro, Pages, Word, Keynote, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, Luminar, Photos, Garage Band, Several Canon cameras and lenses plus, lighting, mics, stands and multiple backup drives. I also use one of several webinar software – they are all not great. So, I will not share any names. Youtube. I wish I had some fantastically inspiring workflow. The flow is really doing the next best action.
What do you do or go to get inspired?
Read great writing, listen to great music. Finding gratitude is a good one. Trying to think about the bigger picture.
What’s your favorite piece of writing or quote?
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness. Mark Twain
What is the passionate problem you are tackling at the moment?
Being nice to everyone.
Is there a product, solution, or tool that you think is a good match for your digital publishing efforts?
Without a doubt, my passport is number one! Luminar is currently my favorite tool for photos. I also use WordPress a ton in making my stories find daylight.
