David P Perlmutter is an author and a marketer who has 11 self-published books with best seller ‘Wrong Place Wrong Time’.
What led you to start working in digital/media publishing?
I started publishing, self – publishing that is after I wrote two chapters of my first book, Wrong Place Wrong Time. I was living in Portugal at the time and I was writing a blog and wrote two so-called chapters of what happens when I visited Marbella. I sent it to my friend and editor at the time and she said, “David, this is too good for just a blog, write a book.” So, I did and that book has been a #1 BESTSELLER across the Amazon world. Also, I’m in the process of looking over a contract from a film production company to make the book into a film.
What does a typical day look like for you?
I wake up, of course, and spend about two hours on my social media platforms such as Twitter, where I have over 42k followers, Facebook, LinkedIn with over 11k connections and Instagram. I answer emails and questions about my books from people around the world. Then I write. I am in the process of writing my 12 book which is fiction and hope to be in a series of 4 stories. It is about an author who kills. That’s all I am saying.
What’s your work setup look like?
I do work from home and I have a laptop and each room of my house is my office.
What do you do or go to get inspired?
My passion for my stories but reading and hearing that my readers love my books and style of writing, that keeps me full of passion.
What’s your favorite piece of writing or quote?
I know that it may sound odd, but I don’t have a favorite quote, I have many just like I have many written pieces. Far too many to mention.
What is the passionate problem you are tackling at the moment?
I have written 11 books. 3 are based on true events and 8 are marketing books. Like I said earlier, I am now writing a series of fiction, so this genre is out of my comfort zone, so yes, it’s difficult, but I am getting there. I am enjoying the process very much, as I’m writing as the first person, so the author who is a killer, like I said, is being written as me. But of course, this is fiction and not based true events. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be writing these answers to your brilliant questions.
Is there a product, solution, or tool that you think is a good match for your digital publishing efforts?
All I can say is that I am an author who uses social media every day to promote my books and me.

Any advice for ambitious digital publishing and media professionals just starting out?
In terms of becoming an author, just enjoy the process, enjoying seeing your words come to life, and most of all, be proud that you have written a book. Once that has been done, have an awesome book cover, and market the hell out of it. Let the world know about your baby.
