Lynda Lippin is a Master Pilates teacher and writer.
WHAT LED YOU TO START WORKING IN DIGITAL/MEDIA PUBLISHING?
I have lived in some very remote places, like the Turks and Caicos Islands, and wanted to maintain a connection with the world. I was one of the first people in the Pilates world to sell downloadable workout audios, ebooks, and to teach via Skype. I launched my first blog in 2005. I hope now to be fully operating on the web with no studio teaching by the end of March 2018!
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?
I still train clients in the studio, so four days a week I get up at 5:15 am and see clients from about 7am-2 or 3 pm. Then I typically teach online for an hour or so at home, and then I do my social media and blog writing later in the day. I am off from the studio Friday-Sunday, and I make sure to take one full day (usually Saturday) off and I work from home on the blog, live video, and new products the rest of the time. I try to turn off my devices and read a paper book after 8 pm and before bed.
WHAT’S YOUR WORK SETUP LIKE?
I recently moved my site from self-hosted WordPress to Squarespace, and it has been a huge relief. Much easier to deal with, especially for eCommerce! MailChimp for my email lists. Google Drive is how I communicate with my mentor and her team. I use Facebook for my groups, Hootsuite to schedule posts, and BeFunky is my favorite photo editor. Frankly, I also write a lot using an old-school pen on paper!
WHAT DO YOU DO TO GET INSPIRED?
I am lucky to be in a great city and surrounded by hugely creative people. I also have a large online community of fellow bloggers and creators who are always there for help.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PIECE OF WRITING OR QUOTE?
Too many! A recent favorite from Tina Fey – “Know what? Bitches get stuff done!”.
WHAT IS THE PASSIONATE PROBLEM YOU ARE TACKLING AT THE MOMENT?
I am developing an online mentorship program for Pilates mat teachers to help them learn more about classical Pilates and keep their classes full.

IS THERE A PRODUCT, SOLUTION, OR TOOL THAT YOU THINK IS A GOOD MATCH FOR YOUR DIGITAL PUBLISHING EFFORTS?
There is not just one – I am using Teachable, YouTube, and Squarespace. Helpful people – Darren at Problogger.com, Amanda at Tress Marketing Solutions, Joan at The Publicity Hound.
DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR AMBITIOUS DIGITAL PUBLISHING AND MEDIA PROFESSIONALS WHO ARE JUST STARTING OUT?
While you can do and learn a lot on your own, I recommend reaching out to a good teacher or coach for help. I would have been making money much sooner if I had done that earlier in the game.
